Gilbert Berthold is a Zurich based architect with practical experience in Vienna, New York, and Zurich since 2011. He draws on an international perspective and diverse building experiences to inform his design process.
Prioritizing the interplay between space, program, and context, each project is undertaken with the belief that architecture manifests tangible structures that engage in meaningful dialogue with society and the environment.
Berthold’s work spans a range of scales, from single family housing, to public and cultural projects. Leveraging a broad skillset, he is always seeking new opportunities for creative en- gagement.
Prior to founding his architecture practice in 2023, he worked as an Associate at Karamuk Kuo where he managed mutliple projects including the Augusta Raurica Archaeological Center (recipient of the LafargeHolcim Award for Sustainable Construction / Prix Acier 2023 / Gutes Bauen 2023 BS/BL) and the Weiden secondary school (recipient of: best architects 19 award).
