Bauwerk
Evangelical church in Nitra

Lutheran Church of Holy Ghost

The edifice complements an indistinct space of the uncertain crossroad in a sensitive post-modern way and reflects the nearby urban environment. The ground-plan corresponds to the wedge-shaped parcel where the particular parts of the construction – the celebration hall, the parsonage, and the evangelical centre – create a form of a fan. Lentil-shaped temple space is a core of the composition. On both sides it is framed by the secondary volumes that nevertheless are equally expressive: the house with the priest’s dwelling, the bookshop and the auditoriums. Simple but not minimalist forms contribute to the civil appearance of the edifice’s structured volume. The roof construction with the wooden tie-beam presents a striking element of the interior space. Henrieta Moravčíková
