The potential of architecture to enter in a mute dialogue with the public, to release mental effects, and even to open the door to new spiritual dimensions, nowadays is much more esteemed than it has been for a long period. Considered from this perspective are sacrality and aura still essential aspects of architecture? What kinds of reflection and responsibility are needed after the experience of Modernity, so that architecture is able to re-explore its irrational, reality transcending, at times even magical means? Three globally prominent architects discuss these questions from their individual standpoint and on the basis of their creativity. Mario Botta emphasizes new directions with sacral places and spaces of a characteristic individuality. Gottfried Böhm belongs to the formative church architects in the second half of the 20th century. Rafael Moneo developed a timely architectural concept with a high degree of sublimity and expressiveness.
