Ein Phänomen unserer Zeit ist ein grundsätzlicher Paradigmenwechsel,der die Zukunft unserer Städte prägt – der zunehmende Leerstand von Wohnungen in Ostdeutschland ist nur ein Symptom dafür. Das erfordert ein grundsätzliches Neudenken von Architektur und Planung nach dem Motto „Weniger ist mehr “. Auf Initiative des Bauhauses in Dessau hat das Land Sachsen-Anhalt eine Internationale Bauausstellung ins Leben gerufen, die bis 2010 modellhafte Lösungen für den Strukturwandel finden soll. Mit ihrer Durchführung sind die Landesentwicklungsgesellschaft SALEG und die Stiftung Bauhaus Dessau beauftragt. Das erste Jahrbuch der IBA Stadtumbau 2010 erläutert die Ausgangsvoraussetzungen des Projekts, beschreibt Philosophie,Strategien und Arbeitsweise und stellt in Beispielen ausgewählte Vorhaben aus den IBA-Städten vor.

This requires a basic rethinking of architecture and planning according to the principle,„less is more “.On the initiative of the Bauhaus in Dessau, the State of Saxony-Anhalt has inaugurated an International Building Exhibition (IBA), which will arrive at model solutions for this structural transformation by 2010.The State Development Society SALEG and the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation are charged with its execution. The first yearbook of the of the IBA “Urban Reconstruction 2010”explains the basic parametes of the project, describes its philosophy, strategies, and working method,and presents selected initiatives through examples from IBA cities.
