Akteur
Das Arbeitsgebiet des 1999 gegründeten Amsterdamer Büros umfasst das gesamte Spektrum der Architektur. Seit den ersten gemeinsamen theoretischen Studien erkunden die Architekten die Grenzen ihrer Disziplin und scheuen auch vor interdisziplinären Vorstößen nicht zurück. So reicht das vielfältige Portfolio vom Designprodukt bis zum städtebaulichen Entwurf. Der innovative Charakter ihrer Arbeit verdankt sich der engen Beziehung zwischen Theorie und Praxis, einer vitalen Voraussetzung für die stete Weiterentwicklung von Ideen und Umsetzungen, wobei die NEXT ARCHITECTS auf ein Netzwerk diverser erfahrener Professionisten setzt. Zur Arbeitsmethode zählt der offene Entwurfsprozess, währenddessen Voraussetzungen und Resultate laufend auf ihre Tauglichkeit im Rahmen gemeinsamer Workshops überprüft werden.
Immer wieder initiieren und entwickeln NEXT ARCHITECTS Forschungsprojekte und unterrichten selbst an zahlreichen Instituten, in den letzten Jahren wurden die Forschungen im universitären Zusammenhang fortgesetzt, wichtige Studien an der Technischen Universität Delft veröffentlicht. Seit 2005 arbeitet das Büro mit den Partner Huan Yang Architects in Bejing und verfügt bereits über ein umfangreiches chinesisches Portfolio.

NEXT architects connects. By reflecting on the role designs play in their environment, NEXT incorporates „connection“ as a core theme in its portfolio and work method. The strength of this architecture firm lies in its ability to develop strong ideas that become a persuasive part of the project's specific context. Every project is unique and calls for a keen assessment of the specific needs and qualities of the location.
