The family house in Černošice, near Prague, which wan the architects of the KSA studio the ARCH Award of 2008, has a lat in common with the newly built Košice house in the Čermel' valley. 80th Černošice and the Čermel' valley used to be favourite places where people built their summerhouses. Now they host exclusive residential houses. It was the meadow in the Čermel' project that caught the architects' eyes. In order to emphasize its presence, they designed two block houses at its lower and upper ends. The lower three-storied family house is built on columns. An extended decking connects it with the meadow that runs underneath the house into a parking place. A glass facade looks onto the meadow whilst a closed facade faces the street. The upper house is a sauna with a pool. Compared to the elaborate shape of the Černošice house, the Čermel' one is assembled of primary geometric elements in a simple form and revived with well thought out details. Ján Krcho
